HERE I AM. ALL OF ME. IT IS TRULY SCARY.

From 1979-2015 the Chinese government implemented the One-Child Policy to address the concerns of a rapidly growing population. While it was aimed at curbing population growth, it had a devastating impact on the gender gap as the policy led to the widespread abandonment of infant girls.

I was abandoned. And I became a product of the One-Child Policy.

This series of life-size oil paintings is a reconciliation with my past. All my life I have struggled with intense feelings of anger and self-hatred surrounding my abandonment and adoption.

These paintings are a love letter to my family, my younger self and to all those who have been left behind. I intend to the tell the truth for all that it is, and I hope this story reaches those who truly need to hear it.
